abstract | A pulp manufacturing process using cold caustic extraction for dissolution pulp production, comprising: delignification (221) of organic materials (218) in one or more digesters and treatment (222) of a pulp resulting brown (212) to obtain a semi-purified paste for use in the production of dissolution paste; the extraction of the semi-purified pulp with a caustic solution during a cold caustic extraction process (223) to obtain a purified pulp and a solution containing hemicellulose; separating the hemicellulose-containing solution from the purified pulp; washing (224) the purified pulp and collecting the spent washing liquid therefrom; combining the spent scrubbing liquid and the hemicellulose-containing solution to form an alkaline filtrate (216); the concentration (225) of the alkaline filtrate (216) to form a concentrated alkaline filtrate (217); and utilizing at least a portion of the concentrated alkaline filtrate (217) in at least one of said digesters in connection with the production of dissolution paste. |
