abstract | A method for measuring the efficacy of a test component in reducing components of reactive oxygen species (ERO) in a cell comprising: a. contacting a cell with a material capable of emitting fluorescence; b. contacting the cell with the test component; c. contacting the cell with an ERO and with an ERO stimulant, in which the ERO is selected from the group consisting of a compound that generates an oxygen ion, a compound that generates a free radical, a peroxide, and mixtures of the same and characterized in that the ERO stimulant is selected from the group consisting of an endotoxin, bacterial exotoxin and mixtures thereof, or comprising a lipopolysaccharide; and d. Measure cell fluorescence. |
