titleOfInvention Procedure for anaerobic treatment of organic waste fluids containing oils and fats
abstract Procedure for anaerobic treatment of organic residual fluids containing oils and fats. # The procedure presented is designed for anaerobic treatment of residual fluids characterized by their high lipid content, by means of suspended sludges that are retained by microfiltration or ultrafiltration techniques. integrated into the system itself that operate with a slight suction. It consists of an anaerobic upflow device combined with a closed series filtration tank in which submerged membrane modules are used for the separation of treated water with return of the biomass and undigested materials from the residual fluid to the anaerobic reactor. The filter surface of the membranes is agitated intensely by bubbling an oxygen-free gas, preferably by recirculating the biogas generated in the anaerobic biological process. The gas stream introduced into the filtration tank induces an upward flow of the liquid phase and biomass suspended in it, due to the known effect as gas-lift, which overflowing from this tank is recirculated to the bottom of the anaerobic reactor through conduction vertical. This mode of biomass recirculation minimizes the shear forces characteristic of other pumping methods. # Since the separation is carried out by filtration, it is not affected by the sedimentation qualities of the biomass aggregates, altered by the presence of oils and fat On the other hand, the bubbling used in the filtration tank provides conditions suitable for the anaerobic process of beta-oxidation of long-chain fatty acids.
