abstract A process for making a radial multi-block copolymer, comprising the steps of: (a) anionically polymerizing a styrene monomer A1, at least one monovinylarene monomer A2 different from styrene and at least one conjugated diene monomer B1 using one or more organolithium compounds as initiator (s) to form the block copolymer chains; (b) adding one or more alkyl aluminum compounds as coupling promoter (s) after initiating anionic polymerization in step (a), wherein the molar ratio of the coupling promoter to initiator is greater than 2.0; and (c) adding a coupling agent having more than two functional groups to form a radial multi-block copolymer, wherein the radial multi-block copolymer comprises a residue Z derived from the coupling agent and the chains of the block copolymer of the step (a) coupled to residue Z, wherein, optionally, tertiary amine compounds and / or ether compounds are used as structure modifiers to modify the microstructure of the block copolymer chains.
