titleOfInvention Medical connector with pluggable Luer type connection
abstract A Luer connector (110) comprising: a housing (122) having a hollow conduit, a first end (112) and a second end (114), a male Luer cone (126) that is supported by the housing that is configured to rotate relative to the housing, where the male Luer cone has a first opening (138) and a channel (160) through the male Luer cone in fluid communication with the first open end, a substantially rigid internal member (132) that extends to the channel of the male Luer cone (126), to the first open end (138) of the male Luer cone, where: at least one of the male Luer cone (126) and the inner member (132) is axially transferable between a first position and a second position in relation to the other of the male Luer cone (126) and of the inner member (132), the male Luer cone (126) and the inner member (132) cooperate such that the rotation of the cone Male luer in a first direction in relation to the housing (122) a an axial displacement increases between the first open end (138) of the male Luer cone (126) and an end portion of the inner member (132), in the first position, the end portion of the inner member (132) provides a seal substantially fluid tight in relation to the first open end (138) of the male Luer cone (126), so as to substantially prevent a flow of fluid through the male Luer cone (126), and in the second position, the end portion of the inner member (132) is separated from the first open end (138) such that it allows fluid to flow through the first open end 25 of the male Luer cone (126).
