A method of detecting a viral virus particle in a body fluid of a subject, comprising: a) allowing a sample of said body fluid suspected of containing said influenza virus particle to react with a first immunoassay reagent and a second immunoassay reagent, both of which are contained within an immunoassay assembly of a cartridge, wherein said first immunoassay reagent specifically binds to a hemagglutinin molecule selected from the group consisting of H1, H2, H3, H4, H5, H6, H7, H8, H9, H10, H11, H12, H13, H14, H15 and H16 to form a first immunocomplex on said flu virus particle, and wherein said second immunoassay reagent specifically binds to a molecule of neuraminidase selected from the group consisting of N1, N2, N3, N4 and N5 to form a second immunocomplex on said influenza virus particle, providing said immun or complexes one or more detectable signals indicating the simultaneous presence of hemagglutinin and neuraminidase on said influenza virus particle in which the first or second immunoassay reagent is immobilized on said solid support; and b) detecting said one or more detectable signals generated from said immunocomplexes, wherein said simultaneous presence of hemagglutinin and neuraminidase is indicative of the presence of said influenza virus particle. |
