titleOfInvention Procedure for the production of terephthalic acid
abstract Method for producing terephthalic acid, characterized in that it comprises: subjecting a p-phenylene compound to a liquid phase oxidation reaction by using a gas containing molecular oxygen in the presence of a catalyst containing at least one heavy metal compound and a bromine compound, and aqueous acetic acid having a water content of 1 to 15% by mass, to thereby produce a suspension; regulate the temperature of the suspension at 35 to 140 ° C, thereby causing terephthalic acid to precipitate; extract the terephthalic acid through solid-liquid separation, to thereby recover the mother liquors; and recovering the catalyst from the mother liquor through a series of the following steps from (1) to (4) to reuse at least a portion of the catalyst in the liquid phase oxidation reaction: (1) an adsorption stage that it includes regulating the ratio "amount in moles of bromide ions in the mother liquors / total amount in moles of heavy metal ions in the mother liquors" to 0.6 to 3, and then exposing the mother liquors to a chelate resin that it contains a pyridine ring that has been heated to 35 to 140 ° C, so that the resin adsorbs bromide ions and heavy metal ions derived from the catalyst, and also adsorbs a mixture of carboxylic acid that has been produced as a byproduct through the reaction of oxidation in liquid phase (hereinafter the mixture of carboxylic acid will be called "mixture of carboxylic acid produced as a byproduct"), (2) an elution step (A) of exposing aqueous acetic acid or having a water content of 1 to 15% by mass to the pyridine ring-containing chelate resin that has undergone the adsorption step, thereby producing an eluate containing the mixture of carboxylic acid produced as a byproduct, ( 3) an elution stage (B) of exposing water or aqueous acetic acid having a water content of 20% by mass or more to the pyridine ring-containing chelate resin experienced by the elution stage (A), thereby producing an eluate containing bromide ions and heavy metal ions derived from the catalyst, and (4) a displacement step of exposing aqueous acetic acid having a water content of 1 to 15% by mass to the chelate resin It contains a pyridine ring that has undergone the elution stage (B), which serves as a displacement liquid, thereby regenerating the resin.
