abstract | Use of paricalcitol in the treatment of inflammatory anemia. # The present invention describes the use of paricalcitol, a synthetic analogue of vitamin D, in the treatment of inflammatory anemia, preferably in combination with erythropoiesis stimulating agents. The use of paricalcitol for the treatment of said pathology is associated with a lower requirement of erythropoiesis stimulating agents, a better use of iron and an increase in plasma erythropoietin levels, by said patients. The present invention further describes pharmaceutical compositions comprising paricalcitol in combination with erythropoiesis stimulating agents and pharmaceutically acceptable excipients, as well as the use thereof as medicaments for the treatment of inflammatory anemia. |
