titleOfInvention Uniplanar bone anchoring system
abstract A uniplanar bone anchoring system (800) for a fixation procedure comprising: a bone fixation element (804) that includes a head (830) and a tree (58) adapted to couple an anatomy, the head ( 830) being provided with a first flat surface (56c) opposite a second flat surface (56d), at least a first arc bearing surface (56a, 56b) between the first and second flat surfaces (56c, 56d) and at least a first coupling surface (830e, 830f) between the first and second flat surfaces (56c, 56d) and adjacent to the at least a first bearing surface; a support piece (802) extending along a longitudinal axis (L) and having a first bore (812) that receives the head of the bone fixation element (804), at least one coupling bore (38) defined transverse to the length of the shaft (L) and in communication with the first bore (812) and a pair of side walls (44, 48) that cooperate with the flat surfaces (56c, 56d) of the head; wherein a pressure plug (806) is received inside the first bore (812) and has a second coupling surface (842) in contact with the at least one first coupling surface (842a) of the head (830) of the bone fixation element (804); characterized in that a coupling system (16) that includes at least a first pin (54) having a second bearing surface (54a), the at least one first pin (54) received through the at least one bore of coupling (38) such that a longitudinal axis of at least one first pin (54) is perpendicular to a plane parallel to the first and second flat surfaces (56c, 56d) and the second bearing surface (54a) is in contact with the at least one first arch support surface (56a, 56b) of the head (830); and wherein the contact between the at least a first coupling surface (830e, 830f) of the head (830) and the at least a second coupling surface of the pressure plug (806) together with the first flat surfaces and second (56c, 56d) that cooperate with the corresponding side walls (44, 48) of the support piece (802) allow the bone fixation element (804) to move relative to the support piece (802) in only one plane.
