abstract Procedure for calculating an index of cartilage degeneration. # Procedure that allows obtaining a quantitative parameter called "Cartilage Degeneration Index" to know, from magnetic resonance images, the state of global degeneration of articular cartilage by an analysis of neovascularization associated with inflammatory and degenerative processes. To do this, different statistical parameters are correlated with the clinical variables of osteoarthritis, obtaining pharmacokinetic parameters that help determine the vascular irrigation of the cartilage. Both the level of alteration and the thickness of the cartilage are taken into account, giving a more accurate idea of their degeneration status, giving greater weight to those regions that have a greater relative thinning. # Find special application in the field of medicine , specifically for early diagnosis and monitoring over time of degeneration of cartilage in inflammatory and arthritic processes.
