abstract A composition for topical administration of methylphenidate, comprising methylphenidate in a finite and flexible system, wherein the system comprises methylphenidate in an amount sufficient to allow a delivery rate of from about 0.5 mg / 24 hours to about 100 mg / 24 hours, in order to achieve a therapeutically effective dose in a patient and wherein the composition comprises an acrylic polymer selected from the set consisting of acrylic polymers without functionalities, acrylic polymers with hydroxy functions and acrylic polymers with minimum acidic functionalities, and wherein the acrylic polymer with minimal acidic functionalities is an acrylic polymer having no more than about 5% by weight of functional acidic monomers, based on the weight of the acrylic polymer.
