abstract | A tubular piston marine engine lubricating oil composition to improve the handling of asphaltenes in use thereof in engine operation when fed by a heavy fuel, a composition comprising or prepared by mixing more than 50% by mass of the composition of a lubricating viscosity oil and: (A) one or more oil soluble phenolic compounds that are liquid of distilled cashew bark or hydrogenated distilled cashew bark liquid; and (B) an overbased metal hydrocarbyl substituted hydroxybenzoate detergent; wherein the treatment rate of the additives (A) and (B) in the lubricating oil composition is in the range of 1 to 25% by mass. |
