abstract A disposable patch cable assembly (410) configured to be used with a reusable sensor cable assembly (430) in a device mapping system used to map the location of a device within a patient's body, the assembly of sensor cable having an upper portion and a proximal end and a distal end, the disposable patch cable assembly (410) comprising: an adhesive hydrogel layer (417) adapted to adhere the assembly to the patient's body; an electrode layer (416) disposed in the adhesive hydrogel layer; a foam layer (412a) disposed in a portion of the electrode layer; an electrical conductor (434) configured to communicate an electrical signal from the electrode layer to the device mapping system; and, a coupling element (414) adapted to detachably receive at least a portion of the reusable sensor cable assembly (430), wherein the coupling component comprises a first coupling element (414a) adapted to couple a notch (414c) in the upper portion of the sensor cable assembly and a second coupling element (414b) adapted to engage a notch (414d) at the proximal end of the sensor cable assembly.
