abstract | A process for preparing a stable liquid antibiotic composition adapted for parenteral administration, which comprises dissolving in an aqueous solution containing from 25 to 80% by weight of an acetic acid amide or a lactic acid amide, from 10 to 100 mg / ml , of oxytetracycline or an acid addition salt thereof of 0.67 to 1.0 molar equivalents of a physiologically tolerable soluble magnesium salt per mole of oxytetracycline and sufficient ammonia or a physiologically soluble, low molecular but aliphatic amine tolerable, having a dissociation constant greater than 10 to provide the resulting composition with a pH of about 8.5 to 9.5. |
