abstract | Method of detection of moisture sensitive reagents, compromised by moisture, said reagents being placed in contact with a sample containing water and the presence of an analyte in the sample being detected by reaction with said moisture sensitive reagents, the method comprising : (a) measuring the reflectance of the light at the wavelength of the products of said reaction of said moisture sensitive reagents with said analyte at two predetermined moments after contacting said reagents with said sample; (b) measure at the same two predetermined moments the reflectance of the light at the wavelength of an infrared reference dye, said dye being combined with said moisture sensitive reagents and having a characteristic wavelength separated from the wavelength measured in (a) at least 120 nm; (c) calculate the ratio of the wavelengths measured in (a) and (b) and conclude that the reagents have an activity lower than expected from the change in said ratio between said two predetermined moments. |
