| abstract | A syringe pump (10), comprising: a syringe (16) comprising a plunger (20) that slides into a body (18) having a discharge orifice (24); a driving mechanism (14) coupled to said syringe (16), comprising a cylinder (30) in which a piston (32) slides mounted on a rod (36), and a requesting device (38) operative to apply a force pushing on said piston (32) to propel said piston (32) distally into said cylinder (30); and a safety hitch (35) that initially prevents said solicitation device (38) from moving dichopiston (32), said safety hitch (35) being removable to allow said desolling device (38) to move said piston (32); and wherein said cylinder (30) is at least partially filled with a hydraulic fluid (42) and said piston (32) is formed with a vent hole (44) that passes through the thickness of said piston (32) and it is fluid communication with a hole (45) in said rod (36), wherein said vent hole (44) and said hole (45) allow the flow of said hydraulic fluid (42) from a distal part (46) of said cylinder (30) in front of said piston (32) to a proximal part (48) of said cylinder (30) behind said piston (32), characterized by a regulating valve (49) disposed in said vent hole (44) operative for regulate the transfer of hydraulic fluid (42) between the distal part (46) and the proximal part (48) of said cylinder (30). |
