abstract | A method for identifying a candidate patient for treatment with medication that inhibits the decriminalization capacity of the HER-2 receptor protein, the method comprising: (a) contacting a set of chromosomal probes in conditions sufficient to allow hybridization of the probes to chromosomes in a biological sample of the patient, where the probes are capable of detecting copy numbers for HER-2 / neu and one or more of the TOP2A, 1q25, PTGS2 and chromosome genetic loci in the cells and one or more reference probes; and (b) identify the candidate as suitable for treatment with medication that inhibits the deanalyzing capacity of the HER-2 receptor protein by quantifying the copy numbers for HER-2 / neu and one or more of the TOP2A genetic loci , 1q25, PTGS2 and chromosome by hybridization with the probes. |
