abstract A process of regal and enantioselective enzymatic production of compounds -hydroxycarbonyl which comprises reacting a compound-ketocarbonyl with a -ketocarbonylreductase derived from Gluconobacter oxydans, in which the -ketocarbonylreductase (i) has an apparent molecular weight of 20 to 52 kDa and a selectively reduce the rest-ketoaldehydes and / or-ketoesters and / or the keto moiety of a digester next to the shortest alkyl chain of the molecule; and (ii) comprises the amino acid sequence of Gox0313 (SEQ ID NO: 2), Gox0502 (SEQ ID NO: 4), Gox0644 (SEQ ID NO: 6), Gox0646 (SEQ ID NO: 8) Gox1615 (SEQ ID NO. : 10), Gox2107 (SEQ ID NO: 12), Gox2684 (SEQ ID NO: 14), or a mutant thereof having a sequence identity of at least 80% with the native reductases of SEQ ID N1: 2, 4, 6, 8, 10, 12 or 14 and having the enzymatic activity of the respective native reductase of SEQ ID NO: 2, 4, 6, 8, 10, 12 or 14.
