abstract | Procedure for removing an alkanol impurity from a stream containing a dialkyl carbonate and the alkanol impurity, where the dialkyl carbonate is a dialkyl carbonate (C1-C5) and the alkanol impurity an alkanol ether, consisting of contacting the current with an ester containing aryl groups and a catalyst to effect the reaction of the impurity of alkanol with the ester containing aryl groups, where the ester containing aryl groups contains one or more ester moieties of formula - (C> = O) O - and contains one or more aryl groups, where the aryl group or at least one of the aryl groups binds directly to the non-carbonyl oxygen atom of the remaining ester of formula - (C> = O) O- through one of the atoms carbon constituting the aromatic ring of the aryl group. |
