A porous carbon material suitable for use in smoke filtration, in which the material has a specific BET surface of at least 800 m2 / g, a pore structure that includes mesopores and micropores and a pore volume (measured by nitrogen adsorption ) of at least 0.9 cm3 / g, of which 15 to 65% are mesophores, characterized in that: (a) the porous carbon material is in the form of particles having an average size of 50 to 1,000 µm, or (b) the porous carbon material is a monolithic structure. |
