abstract | A dry powder inhaler suitable for pulmonary or nasal administration, comprising a inhaler body (100) and a capsule tray (110) having a capsule chamber (121) formed therein to carry a capsule containing medication; the inhaler body (100) having an inhaler body opening (102) formed therein, defined between an upper wall (108) and a lower wall (109) opposite, said opening (102) having at least one end open by means of which the capsule tray (110) can be engaged in the opening (102), an inhalation passage (105) that extends through said upper wall (108) and opens into the opening (102) in the body inhalation (100) at one end and an inhalation tube (103) at the other end, and cutting means (150, 151) provided on the upper and lower walls (108, 109); wherein the capsule tray (110) can be mobilely engaged in the opening (102) through said open end between a first position in which the capsule tray (110) is removed from the opening (102) to enable a capsule (123) is loaded into and discharged from the capsule chamber (121) and a second position in which the capsule chamber (121) is aligned with the inhalation passage (105) in the upper wall (108) and a inlet (106) in the lower wall (109) of the body (100) to enable inhalation of the medicine contained in the capsule through the inhalation passage (105), engaging the cutting means (150, 151) the upper part and the lower part of the capsule (123) as the capsule tray (110) moves from its first position to its second position in order to cut openings in the upper part and in the lower part of the capsule (123 ); characterized in that the cutting means (150, 15 1) they are integrated in the inhaler body (100) and formed of the same material and manufactured in the same unit stage such that the inhaler is formed by only two operative components. |
