abstract A polypeptide comprising an amino acid sequence of SEQ ID NO: 2 or SEQ ID NO: 4, or an amino acid sequence of SEQ ID NO: 2 or SEQ ID NO: 4, in which one has been added, deleted or replaced one or more amino acid residues, without significantly affecting one or more of the biological characteristics of the modified molecule compared to the unmodified molecule, the degree of identity of the modified molecule being compared to the unmodified molecule of at least 70 %, and selecting the biological characteristics of: (a) stimulation of human peripheral white blood cells (pWBC) to secrete one or more cytokines selected from IL-17, INF-γ and TNF-α; (b) cause a significant reduction in selected viable cancer cells of U937 acute myeloid leukemia cells and PCR3 prostate cancer cells; (c) prevent the growth of a tumor of U937 cells in vivo.
