abstract | An oral care composition in the form of a mouthwash that provides improved tooth whitening and stain prevention comprising (a) from 0.01% to 10%, by weight of the composition, of a tooth whitening active substance that contains peroxide; (b) from 0.1% to 5% by weight of the composition of a polyphosphorylated compound selected from linear polyphosphates having an average chain length of 6 to 21, phytic acid, myo-inositol pentakis(dihydrogenphosphate), myo-inositol tetrakis(dihydrogenphosphate), myo-inositol trikis(dihydrogenphosphate), alkali metal, alkaline earth metal or ammonium salts thereof and mixtures thereof, (c) from 45% - 95%, by weight of the composition, of water and (d) an orally acceptable aqueous vehicle, wherein the composition has a pH ranging from 4.0 to 6.0 and wherein the composition is stable against peroxide loss for at least three months under conditions storage at 40 °C. |
