Compound ophthalmic microcannula |
abstract |
A composite microcannula for the cannulation of the Schlemm channel of an eye comprising: a flexible elongate element with a connector at the proximal end (3), a distal tip (12) and a communication channel (1) between them, and having an outside diameter of no more than 350 microns, wherein said communication channel is an optical fiber for transporting light energy, wherein said connector serves to connect to a light source, and provide a visible light source (13) at the distal tip (12), and wherein said distal tip is rounded. characterized in that the composite microcannula has a flexural stiffness in the range of 3.09 E-11 to 10 2.86 E-10 kN * m2. |
