abstract Isolated variant polypeptide with glycoside hydrolase activity, which has a degree of identity with amino acids 1 to 513 of SEQ ID NO: 2 of at least 85%, even more preferably at least 90%, more preferably at least 95% , and even more preferably at least 97%, characterized in that the amino acid sequence of the polypeptide differs from SEQ ID NO: 2 in at least one position corresponding to positions 21, 94, 157, 205, 206 , 247, 337, 350, 373, 383, 438, 455, 467 and 486 of amino acids 1 to 513 of SEQ ID NO: 2, characterized by the fact that the difference in at least one position is a substitution in the position 205 and the variant has improved properties compared to the progenitor glycoside hydrolase, characterized in that the improved properties are selected from the group consisting of temperature-dependent activity profile, thermostability, pH activity, pH stability and substrate specificity, product specificity and chemical stability.
