abstract A beamforming method between a first transceiver and a second transceiver, the method comprising: acquiring (201) channel status information, CSI, by transmitting a signal employing at least a subset of a beamforming codebook, from the first transceiver to the second transceiver, and configuring the second transceiver to employ at least a subset of a combination codebook to acquire the CSI, wherein the signal transmission comprises transmitting at least one quasi-omni section and at least a directional section, where the quasi-omni section carries information about the structure of the directional section, estimating (202) an optimal beamforming vector and an optimal combining vector from the CSI, to produce an optimal vector beamforming estimate and an estimated optimal combination vector, and send (203) at least one between the estimated optimal beamforming vector and the vector optimal combination estimate to the first transceiver.
