abstract | A method of producing a flexible laminate package consisting of: (a) applying a urethane adhesive to at least one of at least two flexible substrates, where the at least two flexible substrates can be the same or different materials independently selected from the group consisting of sheets of plastic, metallic sheets and metallic plastic sheets; (b) laminate the at least two flexible substrates with the urethane adhesive between the substrates to form a flexible laminate, and (c) allow the urethane adhesive to cure to form a flexible laminate, where the urethane adhesive comprises - at least one polyisocyanate; - at least one polyfunctional curative agent selected from the group consisting of hydroxypolyesters, hydroxypolyethers, hydroxypolythioesters, hydroxypolycetals, hydroxypolycarbonates, dimeric fatty alcohols, steramides, polyether polyols, polyester polyols, polycarbonate polyols, ethylene glycol, triethylene glycol, triethylene glycol, triethylene glycol, triethylene glycol, triethylene glycol, triethylene glycol, triethylene glycol, triethylene glycol, triethylene glycol, triethylene glycol, triethylene glycol, 1,2 , 3-propanediol, 1,4- and 1,3-butanediol, 1,6-hexanediol, 1,8-octanediol, neopentyl glycol, 1,4-bis (hydroxymethyl) cyclohexane, bis (hydroxymethyl) tricycle [5.2.1.02. 6] decane, 2-methyl-1,3-propanediol, 2,2,4-trimethylpentanediol, 2-ethyl-1,3-hexanediol, dipropylene glycol, polypropylene glycols, dibutylene glycol, polybutylene glycols, bisphenol A, tetrabromobisphenol A, glycerol, trimethylolpropane 1,2,6-hexanotriol, 1,2,4-butanotriol, pentaerythritol, quinitol, mannitol, sorbitol, methylglycoside 1,4: 3,6-dianhydrohexitol and mixtures thereof; - a metal-based catalyst selected from the group consisting of dibutyltin dilaurate, stannous acetate, stannous oxide, stannous octoate, dibutyltin dioctoate, tin mercaptides, stannous citrate, stannous oxylate, tetraphenyltin, tetrabutyltin, tri-n-butyltin acetate , dialkyltin dicarboxylates, bismuth tricarboxylates, bismuth nitrate, bismuth sulfide, basic bismuth dicarboxylates and mixtures thereof; and - at least one catalyst blocking agent consisting of a mercapto compound, or a polyphenol with adjacent hydroxyl groups, or both. |
