abstract Synthesis of polyhydroxyalkanoates (PHA) with thioester groups in the side chain. # The present invention relates to a process of synthesizing polyhydroxyalkanoates (PHA), the PHA obtained by this process and the use of said PHA. The PHAs of the present invention, called PHACOS, have a new monomeric composition, since they contain monomers with thioester groups in the side chain that confer them new physical-chemical properties and allow their subsequent chemical modification.
