abstract |
Ceramic composite materials and alumina whiskers and method of obtaining # In the present invention a sintered composite material is described in which at least one of the phases constituting the matrix is ceramic in nature, and in which the reinforcement phase It consists of {al} -aluminum whiskers with an average aspect ratio greater than 8, the density of said composite material being greater than 98% with respect to its theoretical density. Said material has a whisker content preferably comprised between 0.5 and 50% by volume and dimensions ranging preferably between 0.1 and 10 m and its length between 5 and 500 m. It is also the object of the invention to obtain said composite materials. Said process is characterized in that it comprises the addition of the ceramic material to a suspension of boiling al-alumina whiskers and its subsequent sintering by unconventional sintering methods. |
