Embolization device |
abstract |
An embolization device, comprising a matrix (11) of a diameter in a range between 0.202 and 2.54 mm that includes a biocompatible, biopolymeric and biodegradable material and a radiopaque material, where the radiopaque material is intercalated in the material biopolymer and the matrix (11) is crosslinked, whereby the matrix adopts both a linear extended form and a folded relaxed form, and a coated sheath (12) surrounding the matrix (11), where the sheath (12) is adapted to adopt both a linear extended form and a relaxed folded form as well as the matrix and is produced by covering the matrix with a solution that includes a biocompatible and biopolymeric material and cross-linking and drying the embolization device, thereby significantly improving the stiffness of the matrix to supply the device through a microcatheter. |
