abstract | The present invention relates to a process of converting sugars into liquid products, mostly in hydroxymethyl furfural, by means of a thermochemical treatment in which sugar is introduced into a solvent medium and subjected to the action of selected catalysts within the compound group by a basic catalyst, a Lewis acid catalyst and any combination thereof, at a temperature between 100 ° C and 250 ° C including both limits, and at a pressure selected between 1 bar and 10 bar including both limits, until a liquid fraction is produced that is removed and it cools continuously, while the water vapor that forms during the reaction is removed and condensed. Likewise, another object of the present invention is the installation of sugar transformation in a liquid phase according to the method described herein. |
