abstract | An extruded thermoplastic polyurethane composition having a high crystalline content comprising the reaction product of a combination of: a polyol component, wherein said polyol component has a weight average molecular weight of 500 to 10,000 per polyol and in which said polyol component is used in an amount such that the content of the hydroxyl group is from 2 to 70 equivalents per 100 equivalents of the total hydroxyl groups present in the composition; a diisocyanate component; a chain extender component, wherein said chain extender component it is a linear, unsubstituted, unbranched, straight chain alkanediol of 2 to 6 carbon atoms; a crystallization retardant component selected from dipropylene glycol, neopentyl glycol, 2-methyl-2,4-pentanediol, or a combination thereof, and in which the crystallization retardant component is used in an amount such that the content of gr upo hydroxyl is 1 to 15 equivalents per 100 equivalents of the total hydroxyl groups of the polyol component, the chain extender component and the crystallization retardant component; and optionally, a polyurethane catalyst, in which said composition has been extruded and in which said composition has a hard segment content of 30 to 70%. |
