titleOfInvention | Method for the production of arachidonic acid and / or eicosapentanoic acid in transgenic useful plants |
abstract | Method for the production of (i) eicosapentanoic acid or (ii) arachidonic acid and eicosapentanoic acid in the vegetative tissues of transgenic useful plants with a content of at least 4% by weight based on the total lipid content of the transgenic useful plant, characterized in that at least one nucleic acid sequence that codes for a Δ-6-desaturase, at least one nucleic acid sequence that codes for a Δ-6-elongase and at least one acid sequence is introduced into the plant nucleic acids encoding a Δ-5-desaturase where the nucleic acids are chosen from the group consisting of a) Nucleic acid sequences with the sequences represented in SEQ ID NO: 1, SEQ ID NO: 3, SEQ ID NO: 5 or SEQ ID NO: 7; b) Nucleic acid sequence, which is derived as a result of the genetic codes generated from the amino acid sequences represented in SEQ ID NO: 2, SEQ ID NO: 4, SEQ ID NO: 6 or SEQ ID NO: 8; and c) derivatives of the nucleic acid sequences represented in SEQ ID NO: 1, SEQ ID NO: 3, SEQ ID NO: 5 or SEQ ID NO: 7 which code for polypeptides, which in the amino acid plane exhibit an identity of at least 70% with SEQ ID NO: 2, SEQ ID NO: 4, SEQ ID NO: 6 or SEQ ID NO: 8 and have an activity of Δ-6-desaturase, Δ-6-elongasa, or Δ- 5-desaturase; wherein said sequences are expressed in plants with the help of at least one constitutive promoter CaMV / 35S which makes possible the expression of said nucleic acid sequences in plant vegetative tissues, and a terminator |
