titleOfInvention Needleless blood collection device with valve with male connector
abstract A blood collection device (20) to collect blood from a patient through an I.V. It has a female connector (22), the device comprising: a member constituting a body (38) having distal and proximal ends; a male connector that projects distally (32) formed in the member constituting a body with an internal caliber ( 50), the external shape of the male connector configured to engage an internal shape of the female connector, the male connector having a side opening (56); a collection bottle (42) attached deforms that can be sealed to the proximal end of the member constituting a body; a valve element (34) disposed within the internal caliber (50) of the male connector, the valve element having a first and a second end and including a passage for flow (52) connecting the first and second ends, valve element also including a flow opening disposed at the first end and the flow opening being in fluid communication with the flow passage, including the activation arm valve element (54) extending beyond the side opening of the connector male; and a spring device (60) disposed at the second end of the valve element to push the valve element toward the distal end of the male connector; wherein the coupling of the male connector with the female connector causes the female connector to push the activation arm and the valve element towards the proximal end of the male connector thereby causing the opening for the flow of the valve element to be thin and allow the flow of fluid between the female connector and the collection bottle, and during the decoupling of the female and male connectors, the spring device pushes the valve element towards the end of the male connector, so that the opening for the flow of the Valve element is closed when the female connector is disengaged from the male connector, and in which the flow passage includes: a transverse hole (102) formed substantially in the second end of the valve element; and an axial through hole in fluid communication with the first end of the valve element and the transverse hole.
