A process for the production of a 5-chloro-2,4-dihydroxypyridine represented by the formula (1): characterized in that the process comprises the reaction of a 5-chloro-1,3-dioxin-4-one derivative (2 ) represented by the formula (2): (where R3 and R4 have the same meanings as defined above), treating the pyrone derivative (4) with an acid, and subsequently, reacting the product with ammonia. |
