titleOfInvention Quick exchange catheter
abstract A catheter (20) comprising: an elongated member (20) configured to cause it to advance along a vascular path of a patient, wherein the vascular member has a proximal portion, a distal portion (30), a proximal end , a distal end (24), a portion of the adjacent and proximal frame (32) of the distal portion, and an exit port of the proximal side wall (34) of the frame portion, the exit port (34) of the side wall that is sized to receive a guide wire (38); wherein the elongate member comprises a lumen that extends at least from the exit port (34) to the distal port (25); wherein the distal end (24) comprises a distal port (25); the distal portion (30) comprising a medical device delivery structure, comprising a medical device delivery structure; wherein the frame portion defines an inner cavity and which is characterized in that the frame portion comprises a frame member (40) contained within the inner cavity, wherein the frame member (40) has an interior space sized to house a permanent medical device (42), and wherein the frame member (40) has a proximal end that is distal to the proximal end of the elongate member (20); wherein the frame member (40) is disposed within the lumen and lumen encompassing the inner cavity of the frame portion (32), and being further characterized in that the lumen is sized in the frame portion (32) to receive a guide wire (38) outside the inner space of the frame member (40).
