abstract | Procedure for the preparation of ethyl tert. butyl ether (ETBE) from technical mixtures of C4 I hydrocarbons, containing at least 1-butene, isobutene, n-butane and 2-butenes, characterized by the following steps of the process: a) reaction of parts of the isobutene, contained in the technical mixture, with ethanol in the presence of an acid catalyst to form ETBE, b) separation of the unreacted C4 III hydrocarbons, from the discharge fraction of step a), by procedures thermal separation mediating obtaining a fraction II containing ETBE, c) distillation separation of C4 III hydrocarbons in a fraction IV, containing at least 1butene and isobutene, and in a fraction V almost free of isobutene, containing at least 2-butenes and nbutane, d) renewed reaction of isobutene contained in fraction IV with ethanol VI in the presence of an acid catalyst to form ETBE, e) separation of C4 V hydrocarbons III that have not reacted from the discharge fraction of stage d) mediating obtaining a fraction VII containing ETBE, the hydrocarbon fraction of C4 VIII, obtained in step e) being treated, by distillation in one or more distillation columns, to form a 1-butene, which has an isobutene content of less than 2,000 ppm by weight. |
