abstract | Procedure and kit to determine the administration of estradiol to cattle. A procedure for determining the exogenous administration of 17 {be} -estradiol to bovine animals is disclosed, based on the determination of the D-pyroglutamyl-L-phenylalanine peptide in the serum of said animals. The presence of said peptide in concentrations higher than those of control animals indicates the exogenous administration of 17 {be} -estradiol or an ester thereof. A kit is also provided that comprises said peptide and that facilitates the determination. The procedure can be carried out by various techniques, such as chromatographic separation coupled to mass spectrometry, or immunoassay techniques such as ELISA. |
