titleOfInvention PROCEDURE FOR THE REFINING OF BIODIESEL, INDEPENDENTLY FROM THE ORIGIN OF THE RAW MATERIAL USED IN ITS MANUFACTURE.
abstract Procedure for the refining of biodiesel, regardless of the origin of the raw material used in its manufacture; which consists in treating it with an adsorbent material (preferably activated carbon) at high temperature. # Thanks to the method, it is possible to: reduce the glyceride content; remove unsaponifiable matter and discolor biodiesel. This quality improvement causes: increase in methyl esters, decrease in viscosity and POFF, better filterability, higher cetane and slight increase in calorific value, among others. # By including the method as an additional stage in current manufacturing technologies, or either as an independent stage, percentages in methyl esters of more than 99.5% are achieved, allowing to obtain a high quality liquid biofuel for use in diesel engines: i) in a total way (B 100), ii) in mixture with diesel oil (biodiesel content> 5%), or iii) as its additive (mixtures <5%).
