abstract Method of obtaining natural antioxidants, characterized in that (a) Chlorella sorokiniana SAG 211-32 green algae strains are grown in a culture medium comprising acetic acid salts of 20 to 60 mM and with light irradiation of from 500 up to 1,000 6mu; E m -2 s -1 to produce lutein until a desired antioxidant content is reached, (b) algae are harvested and used as a product and / or (c) lutein content is removed by separation of the remaining biomass.
