New serine protease inhibitor and its use. The invention relates to a new protein, identified by scanning an Anisakis simplex cDNA library, as well as its coding sequence and its expression vectors. Said protein, a member of the serpine family, is capable of dose-dependent inhibition of human thrombin, without affecting coagulation factor Xa, and without heparin altering its inhibitory activity. Thus, the invention also relates to the use of this protein for the preparation of a medicament, especially if it is an anticoagulant. Its administration would have special interest in cases of hypercoagulopathies associated with the administration of heparin. It also represents an alternative to coumarin-derived anticoagulants, which could be substituted in any of the situations in which they are administered. |
