Method for differentially detecting an IgM antibody directed against a pathogen in a sample, in which the sample may comprise an interfering antibody selected from an interfering IgM antibody and / or an interfering IgG antibody, comprising the following steps: (a) incubating said sample with an assay reagent, comprising: (i) at least one R 1 receptor that specifically binds to IgM antibodies, (ii) at least one R 2 receptor, which specifically binds to the IgM antibody to be detected differentially, in which: R 2 is a multimeric antigen and carries a reporter group, (iii) at least one R 3 receptor, which specifically binds to the interfering IgM antibody, in which R 3 is a multimeric antigen with a density or effective concentration of epitopes that is at least twice lower than the density or concentration of epitopes of the R 2 receptor, and (b) that allows the following complexes to form: (i ) a complex comprising R 1, said IgM antibody that must be detected differentially and R 2, said complex carrying a reporter group, (ii) optionally a complex comprising R 3 and said interfering IgM antibody, thereby eliminating the interfering binding of said IgM antibody interfering with R 2, and (c) determining said reporter group bound by R 2 to said IgM antibody to be detected differentially, by way of measuring said IgM antibody in said sample. |
