abstract |
A surgical device adapted to hold the esophageal tissue during a fundoplication procedure, comprising: - a proximal member having a vacuum port that can be connected to a vacuum source; - a substantially flexible conduit (20) having a proximal end connected to the proximal member, the conduit (20) having a light in fluid communication with the vacuum source, and - a distal member connected to a distal end of the conduit (20) and configured to hold the esophageal tissue when suction is supplied to the vacuum port from the vacuum source, characterized in that - the distal member includes a post (15a '); and - the surgical device comprises a jaw assembly (14 ') configured to hold the esophageal tissue, the jaw assembly (14') being operated by a cable (18) that passes around the post (15a '). |
