In vitro method for determining the presence of a neural lesion in a subject, comprising detecting at least one or more proteolytic degradation products of a microtubule-associated protein (MAP) MAP-2A, MAP-2B, MAP2C or MAP-2D in a tissue or liquid sample in contact with injured neural tissue, in which a detectable amount of said at least one or more MAP degradation products is indicative of a neural lesion in said subject when said amount is greater than that of normal subjects without neural injury. |
