abstract Process for preparing a compound of formula (VIII), or an acid addition salt thereof, characterized by the steps of: a) acylation of a compound of formula (VI) where R represents (C 1-6) alkyl, cycloalkyl ( C3-8), alkyl (C1 6) carbonyl, tetrahydropyranyl or (C1-3) alkyl substituted with phenyl or naphthyl (with the proviso that R = methyl is excluded) with an acylating agent; b) hydrogenolysis of the compound (VII) thus obtained acyl using a suitable catalyst, in a solvent inert to the reaction, in the presence of hydrogen, whereby product VIII is obtained with R 1 = R or H; c) optionally, deprotection of the group R1 in formula VIII in case of R1-H; and d) optionally, conversion of the deprotected product obtained into an acid addition salt.
