titleOfInvention A REFRIGERANT AND IRRIGATION MEDIA FOR USE IN DENTAL SURGERY.
abstract Use of an irrigation medium that can be obtained by electrolysis of a diluted saline solution of 0.01 to 1%, thereby minimizing the formation of trihalomethanes and, consequently, the carcinogenic potential of the solution, comprising said irrigation means: an electrolytically activated aqueous solution, selected from a group consisting of: a mixture of a solution containing anions and a solution containing cations; a solution containing anions that can be obtained from a solution containing cations or a mixture of a solution containing anions and a solution containing cations; and a solution containing cations that can be obtained from a solution containing anions, a solution containing cations or a mixture of a solution containing anions and a solution containing cations; and in which the solution containing anions has a pH of 6.75 to 10 and the solution containing cations has a pH of 9.0 to 12.0, so that the electrolytically activated aqueous solution has a pH of between 6.75 and 10 with microbicidal properties as well as antioxidant, dispersant and surfactant to give the biocompatible and non-corrosive irrigation medium in the manufacture of a medicament for use in dental surgery procedures.
