Sulfur derivatives of N-acetylhexosamines and their use as inhibitors of tumor cell division. # The present invention describes a series of thioglycosides and their oxidized derivatives sulfoxide and sulfone, which confer greater solubility in aqueous media, and their use as antitumor agents, mainly against glioma and lung adenocarcinoma cell lines. The new thioderivatives are resistant to hydrolysis catalyzed by N-acetylhexosaminidases enzymes and reduce the content of gangliosides in tumor cells. The invention also relates to a method of obtaining these compounds and their use for the manufacture of a medicament for the treatment of tumors. |
