abstract The present invention describes a process for the production of liquid fuel, with a high content of alkanes and low in oxygenated compounds comprising at least: # - a first alkylation step of 2-methylfuran (commonly called Sylvan) with a fury alcohol 2 with the formula: # ** FIGURE-01 ** # where R {sup, 1} is H or an aliphatic or aromatic or hetero-aromatic moiety, # R {sup, 2} is H or an aliphatic or aromatic or hetero moiety -aromatic and # R {sup, 3} is H, hydroxymethyl or an aliphatic or aromatic or hetero-aromatic moiety in the presence of a catalyst # - a second hydrogenation and dehydration step of the compound obtained in step 1 in the presence of hydrogen, using suitable hydrogenation and dehydration catalysts.
