abstract |
A culture medium for mammalian epithelial cells comprising: (i) at least one IGF selected from IGF-I and IGF-II wherein, when IGF-I is present differently than a synthetic IGF-I / VN chimera, the culture medium comprises an insulin-like growth factor binding protein (IGFBP) selected from IGFBP3 or IGFBP5; (ii) vitronectin (VN) or at least one integrin receptor binding fragment thereof; (iii) one or more different biological active proteins that stimulate cell growth and / or differentiation; and (iv) an absence of serum or an amount of serum that in the absence of IGF-I or IGF-II would not support epithelial cell growth. |
