titleOfInvention SOLVENT BASED POLYURETHANE PREPARATION PROCEDURE.
abstract A process for obtaining a solvent-based polyurethane composition comprising 80 to 25% of a liquid medium, wherein the liquid medium comprises <= 20% by weight of water, and wherein the PDi of the polyurethane based on Solvent is in the range of 2.8 to 6, the process comprising the following steps: 1) preparing an isocyanate terminated prepolymer A; 2a) reacting the isocyanate groups of the isocyanate-terminated prepolymer A with 0 to 0.95 stoichiometric equivalents of at least one chain terminating compound, which contains active hydrogens, selected from the group consisting of monoalcohols, aminoalcohols, primary or secondary amines , and monofunctional hydrazines; 2b) reacting the isocyanate groups of the isocyanate-terminated prepolymer A with 0 to 0.95 stoichiometric equivalents of at least one chain extending compound, which contains active hydrogens; wherein steps 2a) and 2b) together are in the range of 0.1 to 1.8 stoichiometric equivalents; 3) optionally introducing an isocyanate terminated compound B; 4a) reacting the isocyanate groups of the isocyanate-terminated prepolymer obtained in steps 2a) and 2b) and the isocyanate groups of the isocyanate-terminated compound B, introduced in step 3), with 0 to 1.0 stoichiometric equivalents of at least a chain terminating compound, which contains active hydrogens, selected from the group consisting of monoalcohols, aminoalcohols, primary or secondary amines, and monofunctional hydrazines; 4b) reacting the isocyanate groups of the isocyanate-terminated prepolymer obtained in steps 2a) and 2b) and the isocyanate groups of the isocyanate-terminated compound B, introduced in step 3), with 0 to 1.2 stoichiometric equivalents of at least a compound that extends the chain, which contains active hydrogens; wherein steps 4a) and 4b) together are in the range of 0 to 1.2 stoichiometric equivalents; wherein the process comprises at least one stage with a chain extending compound, which contains active hydrogens, and at least one stage with a chain terminating compound, which contains active hydrogens; wherein if 0% by weight of the isocyanate-terminated compound B is introduced, then step 2a) comprises 0.1 to 0.95 stoichiometric equivalents of at least one chain terminating compound containing active hydrogens, and is carried carry out at least one stage 2a) before one stage 2b).
